Abstract

Ever since the rise of Christianity, the Bible has played a key role in the Christian religiosity. It was a guide to faith, a supreme source of belief and morals, the standard of Christian orthodoxy, and a means of combating heresies; for a great majority of Christians, it continues to enjoy the same position. After the Renaissance, the biblical studies, in terms of authorship, style of writing, and even consistency, began to develop. In common with other ancient works, the post-Enlightenment thinkers carefully criticized it. Due to the biblical criticisms, the Bible tottered and its authority was questioned. The question whether the Bible is infallible or fallible has been seriously considered down to the present day. Therefore, on the one hand the orthodox Christians have set to work to advance arguments in favor of this scripture. The present paper is an attempt to consider the four most important arguments in favor of the biblical inerrancy.
