The existence of God has been one of the most fundamental questions in the history of mankind. Numerous arguments have been advanced by intellectuals for the existence of God; and one of the most significant and strongest arguments is the argument from contingency, which has been widely accepted by both Islamic and Western philosophers; and there have been various versions of this argument, among which one can refer to that which is advanced by Ibn_Sina's (Avicenna's); it has been explicated in several chapters of Isharat va Tanbihat. In this article, his approach in the advancement of the argument has been examined. Obviously, it can be claimed that his version of the argument from contingency is the most detailed and comprehensive among those proposed by others, and acts as the basis of many other versions.
